Personal Financial Management System

A self-developed, multi-currency financial tracking and analytics workbook.

A clearer picture of the whole.

I wanted a centralized way to understand, organize, and analyze my finances. What began as tracking balances developed into a workbook connecting accounts, currencies, net worth, and financial change.

What the workbook does.

01

Net-worth tracking

Brings assets and liabilities into one view, and tracks financial position over time.

02

Multi-currency accounting

Organizes balances across currencies with exchange-rate conversion.

03

Accounts, owed & due

Keeps track of account balances, money owed, and money due.

04

Financial breakdowns

Separates financial information into categories that are easier to interpret.

05

Historical analysis

Keeps a record of changes in financial position for comparison over time.

06

Dashboards & visualizations

Uses Excel formulas, charts and organized records to communicate financial information clearly.

The structure behind the dashboard.

TNW

A view of total net worth and its change over time.

FX

Exchange-rate records and multi-currency conversion.

Breakdown

A categorized view of financial information.

Balances Owned & Due

Balances, money owed, and money due.

These are parts of my personal workbook. This is an independent financial-management project, rather than professional accounting software or an established commercial product.

The skills it brings together.

Built through repeated improvements.

The workbook grew through repeated improvements: adding financial breakdowns, records of balances owned and due, exchange-rate handling, and charts that make changes easier to read. A simplified and monetized beginner template followed as a separate project.

Personal financial milestones.

A meaningful personal financial milestone, reached at age 17.

A demonstration of the idea.

Everything in the charts and interactive example below is fictional demonstration data. This is a web illustration of the workbook’s concepts, not a screenshot or reproduction of my actual Excel data.

Put a small financial picture together.

Add a fictional asset or liability, then see how it changes the calculation. Nothing here is connected to my workbook, accounts, or saved financial records.

What I learned.

Building and maintaining the system taught me the value of consistent data organization and clear definitions. A useful dashboard depends on the records behind it, and the structure has to remain understandable as more information is added.
